Long day.
I’ll see your goat yoga and raise you 19-week-old German Shepherd puppy yoga.
Meanwhile…, 23jun2021
Writing these daily things again because I like writing them and trying to title and center these around one idea just fucks me up.
Scattershot it is.
New iPad is ordered, arriving Friday: 11” M1 iPad Pro with Logitech Combo keyboard case instead of Magic ($100 less). This will replace both my shattered previous iPad and The 2011 MacBook Air as my primary work machine - though Air and I will probably continue for long-form and disconnected writing. We’ve been through so much together… not quite ready to retire it.
New TGL, “What’s your omelette recipe?” is live. Next: side project re-acclimation + day’s run + in-lawn afternoon with chainsaws - and hopefully less of my father-in-law demanding I weedeat poison hemlock .
New, on THE GROUND LOOP: power outages, cast iron, Fiestaware OCD, paprika, DIRT 5, and more in this week’s frequently asked question that I’ve never been asked: What’s your omelette recipe?

As with the dog-children who need out as I put that first bite of dinner in my mouth - and as with the elder familials who need any range of my yard-working / heavy lifting abilities just as I sit down to work - so too does the XBox need to update as I finally have time to play.
Digital Housecleaning Update
- Newsletter switched to manual signup. Just an extra layer of vetting and moderation. Last Sunday of every month.
- TweetDelete: deleted 64,000+ tweets from the last 13 years. (I’ll talk about this more on Wednesday’s episode of The Ground Loop.)
- Apart from Micro.blog, TweetDelete, and Tweetbot , 13 years worth of third-party Twitter account access has been revoked.
- New Informalities series on PR: first one.
- Smashed iPad already making me less of a news consumer. Silver lining in the shards of glass and plastic.
- I’d love a way to mass archive Insta posts but, alas.
Still guarding.
Confirmation that it’s still raining.
Update: I’ve cooked thousands of omelets over the last several years, but this might be the tastiest.
Three-egg omelet — cast-iron grilled, power-outage-infused edition. Triangular because my left-handedness couldn’t negotiate required oven mitt-and-plate-transfer gymnastics. This might become a regular thing (omelet, not power outage, though who knows.)
Also: Kirby chewed through my mixer power cord (not plugged in). So, truly, a banner day.
That kind of day, apparently (I tripped over Kirby while carrying too much, landed on floor; the rest, as the kids say, is history).
Sunday.
Sanctum guardians.
News: in order to eliminate spam signups, be more mindful of who has my mailing address, and base our first interaction in the realm of actual interaction, I’ve switched newsletter signups to manual transmission. More info at the link.
A banner day for Kirby, vanquisher of toys and folded blankets.
Friday.
This town smells like a box of old crayons when it rains.
