The first issue of SNOW ANGELS, the new Comixology Original series from Jeff Lemire and Jock, was excellent. Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks to finally seeing the flickering brain-lightbulb, an unplanned day of figuring shit out will ensue.

This, from an artist whose music I adore, about re/emergence0001, just made my week.
I’ve been playing so much YAKUZA 0 lately that the day’s run around town seems lacking without random people trying to fight me or sending me on substories. Running partner turkey doesn’t count.
An afternoon with the sandpaper and the olive oil: yes, it’s time again for my favorite winter pastime, a little game I like to call “fight the ice formed on the warping side door and make it so the door shuts again because it’s cold and it’d be nice if it was closed.”
I didn’t accidentally dial 911 from my watch this morning so today’s already an improvement on yesterday.
This week, at Parenthetical Recluse… re/emergence0001, the first in a series of short fiction and music collabs between myself and Elizabeth Joan Kelly, has arrived. Hope you enjoy!

While I’m very much in the inchoate stages of thought-noodling and can’t share particulars here (because I don’t have any), it’s exceedingly likely that the birthday novella/novelette release discussed in last week’s Informality won’t be a one-off thing, but a yearly one, my birthday present to myself, a way to view each passing year not as one of stagnation and self-loathing (as I did throughout my 30s) but of incremental progress and a modicum of accomplishment. So, while I’m taking the next six months to shock and awe the current (and myself), the writing of the next will start after the release of the first in August and will be scheduled/timeblocked in with other long-form work for the duration of the year.
More when I know it.
Watched Minnelli’s THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL for the first time (a glaring oversight in my film education, I know) this weekend and it might already have a place on my list of favorites.
